As higher education institutions manage increasingly complex digital systems, cyberattacks are becoming more frequent, more sophisticated, and more costly to address.
This IAUP webinar will bring together experienced leaders and cybersecurity professionals to discuss practical strategies for protecting higher education institutions. The conversation will focus on the growing threat landscape, prevention models universities can adopt, cost-conscious approaches to cybersecurity planning, and the emerging risks presidents and senior leaders should be prepared to address.

Helen NorrisFormer Chief Information Officer and Vice President for Information Technology at Chapman UniversityHelen Norris is the former Chief Information Officer and Vice President for Information Technology at Chapman University, where she had responsibility for leading the university’s information technology strategy and services and overseeing the University Library until she retired in 2025. Ms. Norris joined Chapman in 2014 after holding technology leadership roles at California State University, Sacramento, and the University of California, Berkeley.
Ms. Norris serves as a member of the board of directors for the Society for Information Management and STEM Advantage. She previously served on the Data and Tools Advisory Board of the California Cradle-to-Career Data System, a board member and board chair of EDUCAUSE and as a trustee and board chair for the National Endowment for Financial Education. She also serves as an advisor to several startups in the AI and educational technology space.
Originally from Ireland, Ms. Norris earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, with honors, from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and a Master’s degree in Computer Resource Management and Business Administration, with Distinction, from Webster University, St. Louis. She also holds a certification in Project Management. She has received multiple awards, including an Info-Tech Women Leading IT Award in 2025 (Info-Tech Awards | Info-Tech Research Group), an EDUCAUSE Leadership Award in 2025 (https://www.educause.edu/careers/awards-program/leadership-award/leadership-award-recipients/2025-leadership-award-recipient-2), a SoCal CIO Orbie Award in 2023 (https://socalcio.org/awards/2023) and being named a Higher Ed Technology Social Media Influencer by EdTech Magazine in 2021.

Sabur Khan is a distinguished educationist, academic leader, and institution builder from Bangladesh. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University (DIU), one of South Asia’s leading innovation-driven universities, internationally recognized for sustainability, employability, entrepreneurship, and technology-enabled education.
For more than three decades, Dr. Khan has championed transformative higher education by integrating industry, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital technologies into academic practice. Under his leadership, DIU has pioneered initiatives such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Employability 360°, the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, One Student One Laptop, Micro-Credentials, Capstone Projects, and the Daffodil Smart City learning ecosystem, creating a globally relevant model of university education.
Dr. Khan currently serves as Chairman of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) and Treasurer (Elect) of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP). He is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) and Chairman of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh.
An author of several books on entrepreneurship and leadership, Dr. Khan has received numerous international recognitions, including Honorary Doctorates, D.Litt. degrees, and Professorships, for his outstanding contributions to higher education, entrepreneurship, and human capital development. His work continues to inspire universities worldwide in building future-ready graduates through innovation, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning.

Eric CoughenourDirector, Information Technology Services LA Chamber of CommerceEric Coughenour is the Director of Information Technology & Infrastructure Security for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, where he leads cybersecurity, infrastructure modernization, artificial intelligence governance, and digital transformation initiatives. With more than 28 years of experience in technology and cybersecurity, Eric has supported organizations ranging from the Department of Defense to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and currently at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
His expertise spans cybersecurity, risk management, cloud technologies, enterprise infrastructure, and responsible AI adoption. Eric is an Active Member of California’s Cyber Risk Management Subcommittee, contributing to statewide cybersecurity risk assessment and critical infrastructure resilience efforts. He also serves as a strategic advisor to the Southwestern Law School Strategic Artificial Intelligence Program, helping organizations navigate the evolving intersection of cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and governance.

Early in her career, she served briefly in the U.S. Navy, where she gained foundational experience in security and disciplined leadership. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an MBA from the University of La Verne. Beyond her professional achievements, Martha is an ordained minister at Christ Our Redeemer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Irvine, serves as a Board Trustee for the University of La Verne, and has held leadership roles with organizations including Orange County United Way, U.S. Bank Community Advisors; and an active member of LA Trusteeship – International Women’s Forum.

She served as President of the University of La Verne for twelve years, advancing student mobility, international engagement, fundraising, and institutional visibility. She currently serves as senior consultant to IAUP; 2025-26 President-in-Residence at Harvard University; senior advisor to the American Council on Education; senior consultant to The Phoenix Philanthropy Group; initiative lead for the LA Area Chamber of Commerce “Paradigm Shift”; and executive coach. Her most recent book publication is Guided by Principle, Driven by Change: Insights on Transformative Leadership from University Presidents Globally (2026), Bloomsbury Press.
